Solaris Shawl

I've named this wrap Solaris because of the dramatic hem, giving an illusion of rays of sun. And the colorway, Copper Pennies, gives the look of hot, melted metal. An absolutely stunning shawl, just in time for the holiday season!

This shawl starts with a triangle base worked from the top down in a very easy, quickly-memorized stitch pattern. The varied point hemline is added afterward. It requires approximately 30-35 hours to complete.

This design may look complicated, but it's really quite easy. I have used very easy stitches (chain, single crochet and double crochet) to complete this entire wrap. The laceweight yarn is very tiny, but it is made very easy to work with in this design because I've used a larger than average hook, an F hook, which allows for much more movement and flexibility. The complex-looking lace is not made with complicated stitches. It is made by using a larger than average size hook with the particular size of yarn.

The wrap is made from 100% silk by Claudia Hand Painted. Claudia Hand Painted Silk Lace is available in 1100 yard hanks and I have used approximately 1000 yards. Just one hank of gorgeous, shiny, smooth, 100% silk will give you this stunning masterpiece to treasure for many years to come. Online, you can purchase this yarn at Eat, Sleep, Knit. The finished shawl measures approximately 72" x 35" after blocking.

After blocking, this shawl measures approximately 72" across the top and 35" from top to bottom point.
