Solaris Shawl
I've named this wrap Solaris because of the dramatic hem, giving an illusion of rays of sun. And the colorway, Copper Pennies, gives the look of hot, melted metal. This shawl starts with a triangle base worked from the top down in an easy, quickly-memorized stitch pattern. The varied point hemline is added afterward. It requires approximately 20 hours to complete. This design may look complicated, but it's really quite easy. I have used easy stitches (chain, single crochet and double crochet) to complete this entire wrap. The laceweight yarn is tiny, but it is made very easy to work with in this design because I've used a larger than average hook, an F hook, which allows for much more movement and flexibility. The wrap is made from 100% silk by Claudia Hand Painted. Claudia Hand Painted Silk Lace is available in 1100 yard hanks and I have used approximately 1000 yards. Just one hank of gorgeous, shiny, smooth, 100% silk will give you this stunning masterpiece to treasure for many years to come. The finished shawl measures approximately 72" x 35" after blocking. Included with pattern: Written instructions and lace crochet stitch diagrams.
